Why I Love This Recipe
This is one of my Grandma's recipe from when I was a kid, and I'm older than dirt! Our family would all get together when I was a kid and have big family parties. This was one of our favorites. Today I often make it for potlucks or parties. I watch for chuck roast to go on sale and pick up extra for the freezer so that I can make a big batch and freeze in small packages for a quick supper.
Ingredients You'll Need
4 pounds of Beef, (I use chuck roast)
2 onions, chopped
2 1/2 cups diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon whole cloves
1 Bay leaf
1/4 cup vinegar
2 Tablespoon brown sugar
Directions
Combine onions, tomatoes, salt peper, cloves, vinegar and brown sugar in a sauce pan. Heat to a simmer stirring often. Place beef in a roaster pan, nesco, or crock pot, I like using the nesco or crock pot. Pour hot sauce over the beef. Add Bay Leaf. Cover and cook/roast at a low temp until roast is tender and falls apart easily. Once done, remove from heat and let cool slightly. Using forks pull apart beef so it is shredded, mix well with sauce. Serve hot on buns.
