Why I Love This Recipe

Grapefruit was once known as the 'forbidden fruit' due to its tangy and slightly bitter taste, which was considered unpalatable by early European settlers in the Caribbean.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 cup vodka
1/4 cup triple sec
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
2 grapefruit slices, for garnish

To make the simple syrup, combine the water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a simmer. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the grapefruit juice, vodka, triple sec, and 2 tablespoons of the cooled simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.

Strain the cocktail into two chilled glasses filled with fresh ice.

Garnish each glass with a grapefruit slice.

Pairs Well With

A light and refreshing cucumber salad or a plate of fresh seafood
