Directions
***For the gingerbread dough***
1. In a bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups of flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
2. In a stand mixer, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
3. Add the egg, molasses, and vinegar to the butter mixture and mix well.
4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours.
***For assembling the house***
6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
7. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
8. Cut out pieces for the house (walls, roof, etc.) using templates and place on the prepared baking sheets.
9. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until edges start to darken slightly.
10. Let cool completely before assembling.
11. Use black and orange icing as mortars to assemble the house, holding pieces in place until set.
12. Decorate with more icing, candy, and sprinkles to create a spooky haunted manor appearance.
13. Allow the icing to dry before serving or displaying.
