Why I Love This Recipe

Substitutions for this Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte

Can I make this whole30? Yes, omit the maple syrup.

Can I use honey? Yes, it will work fine but it will not be vegan. I like this honey.

Can I use different milk? You can use any milk in this recipe and it will work just fine. I prefer non-dairy milk but if you like regular milk and don’t follow any specific diet feel free to use that! Homemade almond milk or walnut milk go great in this recipe!

I don’t have pumpkin pie spice, what can I use? I highly recommend ordering pumpkin pie spice simply because it’s great for so many thing (smoothies, stirring in coffee, adding to yogurt, and of course pie!) but if you don’t have it on hand and still want to make this you can use 1/4 tsp cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg and ginger. It will still be delicious

Can I make this without an espresso machine? Our Nespresso is one of the most used kitchen utensils that we have and I think it is well worth the $$ (If you buy even ONE latte a week at Starbucks and make it at home instead this will pay for itself!) You could sub in 1/2 c coffee to this recipe but it will not have the same amount of caffeine and may taste a little watered down.. Treat yourself and get the nespresso machine (They’re only $118!)

Can I make this without a frother? Yes! You can whisk the milk vigorously in the pan and it will get super frothy!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup almond milk
2 tablespoon pumpkin puree
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon maple syrup (omit if whole30)
1/4 cup espresso (1 large shot)

In a small sauce pan, warm almond milk. Whisk in pumpkin puree, spice and maple syrup until combined. Don’t bring to a boil unless you like your drinks piping hot!

While milk mixture is heating, make espresso.

If you’d like, froth using a small electric or cup frother. If you don’t have a frother you can also whisk the milk mixture vigorously in the pan. Pour milk mixture into a large mug and top with espresso. Stir gently and enjoy!
