A symbol of unity and sustenance, Hearthwoven Loaf is a dense, rustic bread baked overnight to deepen its flavors and warmth, embodying the Mulayne tradition of patience and shared nourishment. Crafted from Sungrain Flour, subtly sweetened with Deepwood Syrup, and enriched with aromatic Fennel Threads, this hearty loaf is best enjoyed with a generous spread of Duskfruit Preserves. Served at communal tables, it is more than just food—it is a tradition, a quiet reminder that strength is found in togetherness.
Ingredients You'll Need
2 cups Sungrain Flour (whole wheat flour + cornmeal),
1/4 cup Deepwood Syrup (maple syrup + molasses, divided)
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tsp Fennel Threads (crushed fennel seeds)
1/4 cup Duskfruit Preserves (blackberry jam + fig puree)
Directions
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the Sungrain Flour, 2 tbsp of the Deepwood Syrup, and salt.
Gradually mix in lukewarm water while kneading to form a smooth dough.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise slowly overnight in a cool, dark place.
The next day, punch down the dough to release the gas bubbles and incorporate the Fennel Threads throughout the dough.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Then knead the dough and shape it into a loaf form.
Place the dough in a greased loaf tin or directly on a baking tray. Bake for 40-50 minutes, until its golden brown (you can use a skewer to check its insides are cooked).
Let the Hearthwoven Loaf cool completely. Slice the bread and serve topped with Duskfruit Preserves.
