Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe came from trial and error. I have baked for my present dogs and many previous dogs for years. Actually, I collect dog treat cookbooks.

I love cooking/baking for myself especially during the cold winters here in Oklahoma. "The boys" love homemade dog treats, they contunually smell the air when dog treats are being baked as they know they are for them.

Ingredients You'll Need

Cake:

2 3/4 cup water
1/4 cup applesauce
1/8 tsp vanilla
4 cups wheat flour
1 Tablespoom baking powder
1 large egg
1 Tablespoon honey

Frosting:

1 8 oz. package of fat free cream cheese (room temperature)
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tablespoon milk.

Directions

Cake:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients well and pour into baking pan. Bake for 1 hour or until a tooth pick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Frosting:

Mix well and spread over cooled cake.

Decorations/writing on cake:

Is Carob (Do NOT Use Chocolate, it is toxic to your dog)

Melt desired amount of carob chips in double boiler (or as I do a small metal pan over a small sauce pan with water in it). Add a little water as needed.

Place in ziplock baggie, snip the corner and decorate cake with pets name.

I add Scooby snacks to the top too.
