Why I Love This Recipe

FEATURING: Maple syrup and snow!

Now that Spring is just around the corner, it's the time of year to indulge in Maple Taffy! You can easily make your own- just get a can of maple syrup and follow this easy but oh-so-fun recipe!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 can of Maple Syrup (500 ml)
Clean snow

Directions

First, fill a large container with compacted snow. Leave it outside or freeze while you boil the syrup in a saucepan.
Empty the content of the maple syrup can in a heavy pot. On medium-high heat, bring the maple syrup to a boil. Using a candy thermometer, boil maple syrup until it reads 115 °C (238 °F). You can also do it by eye (until it reaches the desired consistency, which usually takes around 10 minutes).
Once the maple syrup reaches 115 °C (238 °F), remove the pan from the heat and make a test on the snow to check for consistency. If it is too hard, add a little water and stir to combine.
If, instead, the taffy is too liquid, continue cooking. With a metal spoon, pour the boiling syrup over the snow. Give wooden sticks (or spoons) to everyone who wants to eat some!
