"Joanne made the original recipe from Grandma's book and it was delicious"

Serves 12 cream puffs | Prep Time 30 minutes | Cook Time 30 minutes

Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe from 1935 was one Grandma made at Camp Agawak on Blue Lake near Hazelhurst, Wisconsin. It certainly has stood the test of time.

Ingredients You'll Need

1/2 cup butter
1 cup boiling water
1 cup flour
4 large eggs
1/4 tsp salt

Directions

Heat butter and water to boiling point

Remove from heat

Add flour at once and stir constantly with wooden spoon until mixture clears the pan into a paste about 3 minutes

Remove from the stove, then add 1 egg beating well after each additional one until the four eggs have been added

Grease baking pan and drop by spoonfuls about 3 inches apart

Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, lower oven temperature to 350 and bake for 35 minutes or more

Cool and cut top off with sharp knife

Fill with cream and sprinkle with powdered sugar

Pairs Well With

Coffee or tea
