"Joe says these are delicious and taste just like Grandmas!"

Serves 24 doughnuts and holes | Prep Time 2 hours | Cook Time 30 minutes

Why I Love This Recipe

Joanne used the original recipe from Grandma and to make it even more authentic she used her Grandma's doughnut cutter!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs unbeaten
1 tsp soda
1 cup milk, sweet or sour
1 tsp vanilla
4 heaping cups of flour
2 large tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup of flour on board
Canola oil

For the glaze, double this recipe for 2 dozen.
3 1/2 C powdered sugar
1 1/2 t corn syrup
1/4 t salt
1/2 t vanilla
1/3 C hot water

Put sugar in bowl add cream mixed with baking soda

Beat and add unbeaten eggs one at a time

Add milk, vanilla, salt, nutmeg and flour

Put 1 cup flour on board...mix...add flour as needed to work into workable dough. Wrap and chill for an hour

Roll out to 1/2” thick. Cut doughnuts and holes.

Pour 2” canola oil into a heavy bottom pot with thermometer attached. Heat to 325 degrees.

Fry the doughnuts a few at a time. Fry each side 2 minutes. Be careful to keep oil at 325. Let drain on paper bag to soak up excess grease.

Add glaze
