Why I Love This Recipe

Nana's oatmeal cookies were perfect. Not too sweet, but crunchy, buttery, and with a little zip from cream of tartar. I created this recipe to be just like her cookies- delicious!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter (at room temperature)
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 large egg
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cups regular oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 cup toasted almonds (can use any nuts)
1/2 cup raisins (or any other dried fruit)

- In a mixer, cream together butter, sugars, vanilla and egg for 3-4 minutes

- In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, oats, cinnamon, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and then add the dry mixture to the wet mixture in the mixer bowl

- Blend just until combined

- Stir in the nuts and fruit with a spoon

- With a medium-sized cookie scoop, place dough scoops about 2 inches apart on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper

- Bake for 10- 11 minutes until the cookies start to brown on the outside, and just cook through in the middle

- cool on wire rack
