Why I Love This Recipe
We always enjoy this dish in Germany with our friends Melanie and Piotr. It's sort of like a huge pancake.
Ingredients You'll Need
Take 5 eggs. Remove the egg white from four of them. Mix in around 4 oz milk to the four egg yolks and one whole egg. Mix in flour until it is like a thick batter like pancakes. Add powdered sugar until it's sweet enough. Don't go to crazy here, though, because you will add sugar later. Whip egg whites on side. Gently fold in the egg whites to the batter. Add raisins if you feel like it. Melt butter in a saute pan over stove and make sure the whole pan is buttered. Don't be stingy with the butter here. Add batter until it's an inch up the side. Let slowly cook on lowish temperature until the bottom is a light golden brown. Then, you must have a tricky move to turn it. You can flip it in the air like a professional. You can put another pan on top and flip it that way. You can put it slowly on a plate, put the pan upside down above the plate and flip it. You can flip it with the spatula. It's not the easiest. It's kind of a pain. You have lots of options, though. Then, cook the other side. When brown enough, use spatula to tear it into pieces while still on the burner. Add more butter and powdered sugar. Let cook for a few more minutes. Serve it. You can serve it with powdered sugar, ice cream, plum compote, vanilla sauce, melted chocolate, or really whatever you like. Just make sure there is a whole lotta love.
