Why I Love This Recipe

You don't have to visit Singapore to try this dish, however Kon Loh Mee is one of the most dishes served by food hawkers.

*Can be purchased at your local Oriental food market

Ingredients You'll Need

1 pound Hokkien noodles* (fresh yellow noodles)
4 cups water
12 stalks Chye sim* (Chinese mustard greens) or any other leafy green vegetable
2 teaspoons peanut oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon black soya sauce
1 tablespoon chilli sauce or to taste
1 pound char siew* (red barbecued pork), sliced

Directions

Heat water and simmer the green vegetable until just tender. Drain and reserve water. Cook noodles in the vegetable water according to direction on package, then drain.

Combine sesame and peanut oils, soya sauce and chilli sauce and toss in a large bowl with the noodles. Serve garnished with the vegetable and char siew.
