Ingredients You'll Need
16 oz bag or box uncooked elbow macaroni, prepared as per package instructions
4 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp flour
1 can chicken stock, 14.5 oz
1 1/2 - 2 cups mild cheddar, shredded
1 1/2 - 2 cups monterey jack, shredded
6 slices American cheese
pepper to taste
Place cooked noodles into a rectangular cake pan.
Melt butter in saucepan on med/med high heat. Stir in flour to make a paste consistency then whisk in chicken stock slowly until it thickens and becomes smooth. Add all the American cheese slices and 2/3 of the rest of the cheese, a little pepper and mix until smooth.
Pour the cheese mixture over the noodles in pan and stir. Sprinkle with pepper.
Top with the remaining cheese and place under broiler until golden brown.
