salt OR parmesan cheese

I cut up some onion, carrot, and celery to make a mirepoix heating up in olive oil with a large saucepan
I added water, but 7 80z cups of water (not 8)
also 3 large spoonfuls of tomato sauce
and lastly the dry mix
I've let it simmer this afternoon and the house is now filled with the nice homey aroma of home cooking (and I cheated!)
It could use salt, but I think I will add grated parmesan cheese; that should add the flavor it is needing
I don't normally like bread and butter at home
but this meal begs for it
