Why I Love This Recipe

I found this recipe in the antiquities library in Cairo. It comes from an ancient tribe of nomads, the Instincts, who were famous for their knowledge of medicinal teas and macramé. They lived on the Nile before there was Cleopatra eye make up. It’s a great medicinal tea, as it is a natural antibiotic, plus it tastes great.

Ingredients You'll Need

LIZZIE TEA

1” to 2” inches, washed, peeled, chopped fresh ginger root
1 lemon, washed, seeds taken out, quartered
honey to taste
distilled/purified/spring water
tea pot with lid

Directions

boil water

wash, peel and chop ginger root

place about a third of hot water in tea pot, cover with its lid

wash, quarter, and take out seeds from lemon

after tea pot is warm, empty tea pot and recycle the water

place peeled, chopped ginger in bottom of warmed pot

pour in boiling water leaving space at top of tea pot

cover tea pot with its lid and allow to brew for awhile

squeeze juice from lemons and place lemons in tea pot

put lid on tea pot and allow to brew for awhile

add honey to taste, stir

pour into tea cup using small strainer over tea cup
