Why I Love This Recipe

A simple but so very delicious recipe, you just can't go wrong with mac and cheese. We make this when we're celebrating something big or small, or when we just want good old comfort food.

Ingredients You'll Need

2 cups macaroni noodles
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk (if using plant-based milk, add a bit more than 2 cups)
1 cup (or more, depending on how cheesy you want it!) grated cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Optional: 1 cup-ish bread crumbs for topping


Cook macaroni according to package (al dente is best)

Melt butter; add flour and stir until bubbling

Gradually add milk and stir constantly until smooth and thickened

Add cheese and stir until melted; blend in seasonings

Place a layer of macaroni in a greased casserole dish, cover with a layer of sauce. Repeat ending with sauce.

Optional: Top with bread crumbs

Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes, or until mixture is heated through and crumbs are brown.
