Marie's Tasty Lime Pickles.

Ingredients You'll Need

7 lbs. medium sized cucumbers
2 quarts cider vinegar
4 1/2 pounds of white sugar
1 Tbsp whole cloves
1 Tbsp celery seed
1 Tbsp pickling spices
1 tsp. salt
2 cups pickling lime


Slice cucumbers in to a large crock and cover with a solution of 2 cups pickling lime and 2 gallons of water. Let soak 24 hours. Wash several times in clean water, cover with cold water and let stand 3 hours. Drain and cover with 2 quarts vinegar and 4 1/2 lbs of white sugar. Add cloves, celery seed, salt and pickling spices. Let stand over-night. Boil liquid 30 minutes. Pack cucumber slices into hot quart jars. Pour boiling syrup over slices to cover and leaving 1/2 -inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Adjust lids and process pints for 10 minutes and quarts for 15 minutes, using boiling water bath method.
