"Homemade marinara flavored with your choice of veggies and herbs."

Serves makes 1 qt. | Prep Time 10-15 minutes | Cook Time 30 minutes simmer time

Why I Love This Recipe

Homemade marinara is so much tastier, not to mention healthier, than the grocery store variety. And it's so easy to make!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 medium onion, chopped
2 or more cloves of garlic, minced (your taste)
other veggies to your taste, such as mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, celery, etc.
1/4 c. EVOO
28 oz. can crushed tomatoes (I prefer SW brand)
crushed red pepper to taste
sugar to taste (optional)
1 T. fresh oregano or basil (more to taste)

Directions

Heat olive oil in large pot, add onions (and other veggies if using) and saute a minute or two before adding garlic. Add tomatoes red pepper, sugar if using, and oregano or basil. Heat nearly to boil, then reduce heat to simmer. If adding meatballs, do so now. Simmer for about 30 minutes. Serve over paste or on Subs.
