May Wine Bowl
Why I Love This Recipe
The recipe for May Wine is in the New York Times Cookbook. I used it for years for our May Wine parties in early May when the bluebells were in bloom all over the backyard at 10 Bella Vista.
Ingredients You'll Need
1/2 cup woodruff, in cheesecloth bag
1/4 cup superfine granulated sugar
1/2 cup cognac
1/2 bottle Rhine wine or Moselle
1-1/2 bottles Rhine wine or Moselle
1 bottle champagne or seltzer
1/2 cup whole fresh strawberries
Combine the first 4 ingredients and allow to stand overnight, covered closely.
Strain mixture into punch bowl, over ice then add the last 3 ingredients.
