Why I Love This Recipe

I love my meatballs but wanted to make them a little more healthy.

Ingredients You'll Need

1# ground sirloin
1# ground white meat turkey
1 med. tomato
1 garlic clove
2 tsp. fennel seeds
1 small onion
3 T parm. cheese
1 egg
1/2 c bread crumbs
salt/pepper to taste

Marinara Sauce
24 ounce tomato sauce
3 large fresh basil leaves
3 T minced onion
2 T white wine
1 T olive oil
4 T parm cheese
1 T dried oregano
in a stock pot, saute onion in oil for 3-4 minutes, stirring all the time. add wine and reduce over med/high heat. Add sauce, oregano, cheese and cook over the lowest setting on your stove for 30 minutes. Add meatballs once they are done cooking in oven and simmer for another 20 minutes. Serve over pasta or make meatball subs.

Pre heat oven to 350. Line a baking rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

In a food processor, place onion, fennel, garlic and pulse until chopped very fine. Add this to meats in a large bowl along with the rest of the items. Mix with your hands until everything is blended well. Make golf ball size meatballs and place on baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes, turning once.
