Ingredients You'll Need

3 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
Dash of Salt
1 cup sugar
Red and Green food coloring, optional
44 chocolate kisses


Directions

In a large bowl, beat the egg whites, vanilla, cream of tartar, and salt


Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form


Gradually add the sugar, two tablespoonfuls at a time


Beat on high until stiff peaks form, about 5-8 minutes


If desired, divide the batter in half


Fold in the red and green food coloring


Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 1 1/2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheets


Press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie


Cover it with meringue using a knife


Bake at 275 F for 30-35 minutes or until firm to the touch


Immediately remove to a wire rack to cool


Store in an airtight container
