Why I Love This Recipe
A recipe from my Polish step grandfather :)
Ingredients You'll Need
1/4 Lb oleo (yuck! how bout crisco)
1/4 butter
1/2 LB philadelphia cream cheese
2 Cups sifted flour
Add filling none noted on recipe but I've used the following:
Walnut filling
1/2 cup milk
2 TBS butter
2/3 cups sugar
1 LB walnuts crushed
1 TBS vanilla
Fresh fruit:
3 Cups fresh fruit
3 TBS sugar
1 TBS water
2 tsp Cornstarch
Cream cheese:
6oz cream cheese
1/4 tsp lemon juice
3 TBS sugar
1 egg yolk
or Jam or preserves
or pie filling
Powder sugar for dusting
Directions
cream "oleo" and cheese together
Add flour a little at a time
Roll dough in tube cover in plastic wrap and fridge overnight
Next day:
roll about 1/8th " thick
cut in 2"by 2" squares
Add filling
Walnut filling:
Heat milk, butter, sugar and vanilla together
Remove from heat stir in 1 LB walnuts crushed
Fresh fruit:
Heat all ingredients until thickened some
Cream cheese filling:
Stir all together until smooth
or Jam or preserves for filling
or pie filling
pinch opposite corners together or roll up like cigar and put on greased tin
Bake at 375F until lightly browned
Dust w/ powdered sugar
