Why I Love This Recipe

I've been making these cookies for as long as I can remember and I learned it from my mother. I'm not sure where it came from, but I know that they are some of the best cookies I've had!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1-2 tsp cinnamon (to taste)
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups oatmeal (old-fashioned)
1 cup chocolate chips

Cream together shortening and sugars.

Add eggs and vanilla and blend until creamy.

Blend together flour, soda, cinnamon and salt.

Slowly mix in with creamed ingredients.

Stir in oatmeal and chocolate chips.

Drop by spoonful onto a cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes, or until browned on top.
