Why I Love This Recipe

This slightly tart broccoli salad is the perfect accompaniment to any picnic, brunch or church gathering. My grandmother used to make this for festive occasions and it was always one of my favorites ( though she would add a generous handful of shredded cheddar cheese). Tart vinegar and sweet raisins with a soft crunch from the sunflower seeds gives you all the crunchy goodness you may feel like you miss out on with braces. Never fear, broccoli is here!

Ingredients You'll Need

5 Cups of Broccoli Florets (raw, CROWNS ONLY, cut in half)
1/2 Cup Raisins/Craisins
1/2 Cup Shelled Sunflower Seeds
1/2 Cup of Cooked Bacon (crumbled)
1/4 Cup Red Onion
1/4 Cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese (optional)
Dressing:
1 Cup of Mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. Red Wine Vinegar
1/2 Cup White Sugar

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.

Mix all dressing ingredients together and combine before pouring over broccoli mixture.

Toss all together and serve chilled

Pairs Well With

Brunch, finger sandwiches, picnics
