Why I Love This Recipe

I received this recipe from one of my college professors to help prevent sea-sickness. Lo and behold, they prevented you from feeling queasy & the cookies are absolutely delicious!

Ingredients You'll Need

3/4 c. shortening
1c. sugar & additional 1/4-1/2 c. in a small bowl
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. & 2 tbsp. flour

Directions

Combine shortening, 1 c. sugar, molasses & egg in mixer.

Blend till creamy.

Add spices.

Gradually add flour.

Roll into balls about the size of walnuts.

Roll in additional sugar.

Place on cookie sheet several inches apart.

Bake 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Cookies should being to "crack" on top.

Gently remove from cookie sheet on to cooling rack.

Let cool for several minutes.

Note: For crispy ginger snaps, bake a few minutes longer.
