Old-Fashioned Apple Dumplings

Ingredients You'll Need
2 c. plus 3T. all purpose flour, divided
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
5. T. shortening
1/2 c. milk
2 to 3 t. butter
5 apples, cored, peeled and chopped
sugar to taste
cinnamon to taste
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 c boiling water
Directions
Mix together 2 cups flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening; add just enough milk to form a ball. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness; spread with butter. Lay apples across the dough; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll up jelly roll style and seal ends; cut into 6 to 8 slices. Lay flat in a greased 8"x8" pan. Mix together brown sugar, remaining flour and boiling water; stir constantly until thickened and pour over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 min.
