Why I Love This Recipe
This was my great-grandmother's recipe. She always made these cakes around the holidays. After she passed away, I was going through some of her things and found this recipe on a piece of paper that was aged. Fortunately, I was able to read the recipe.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 cup of cooked prunes, cut into pieces
1 ½ cup sugar
3/4 cup oil
3 eggs, beaten
2 cups flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup nuts
Glaze:
1 cup sugar
1 TBSP Karo Syrup
½ cup buttermilk
½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. vanilla
1 stick butter
Directions
Mix all ingredients. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cake cool while making glaze.
Glaze:
In heavy saucepan, mix all ingredients. Cook glaze until it reaches soft ball stage. Drizzle over cooled cakes.
