"Authentic German Recipe for Rouladen"

This is my mother in laws recipe for Rouladen.

Ingredients You'll Need
6 large slices of braciole or
thin flank steaks
6 slices bacon
5-6 onions sliced thin
3 gloves of garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
Nutmeg
2 Tb. Corn Oil
2 Tb. cornstarch
Directions
Lay meat on wax paper
sprinkle with salt pepper and a dash of nutmeg.
Place one piece of bacon in the center of meat
Place a layer of onion slices over entire piece of meat
Roll up meat and fasten with a toothpick.
In a heavy pan brown meat on all sides and set aside.
Add garlic and remaining onions to pan. Sprinkle with salt
and brown thoroughly, adding a little water from time to time
to prevent sticking Onions should be cooked to almost a paste,
forming a rich dark brown coating on the bottom of pan..
Return meat to pan and cover meat with hot water.
Cover pan and simmer for 1 ½ hours
Thicken sauce with cornstarch and serve.
