Why I Love This Recipe
This recipe won the best chili in the 2019 Abundant Grace Fellowship Chili Cookoff of 19 entries.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium sweet red pepper, chopped (optional)
1 medium green pepper, chopped (optional)
1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained with chilis
2 teaspoon packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 Tablespoon cilantro (ground) a palm full of fresh
2 teaspoon grape jelly
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or more if you like it hot.
1 can (16 ounces) chili beans, undrained
1 can (16) dark kidney beans
2 teaspoons chopped fine any type hot peppers
1 Tablespoon of flour
Optional Toppings: sour cream, cheddar or Jack cheese and green onions
Directions
Brown ground beef and onions in skillet , drain off any excessive fat. In a large pot add the rest of the ingredients except flour. Add 2-3 cans of water or I use beef or bone broth. Add ground beef and onion. Cook on high for 5 minutes then turn heat down to low and simmer for one hour, then take some broth from pot and add the flour mix and pour pack into pot to thicken chili, simmer for another hour. Enjoy!
