Why I Love This Recipe

I really like cooking with beer - it seems to always add another dimension to whatever you are cooking with. My friend Paulette makes this and was kind enough to share her family recipe with me.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 1/2 lbs stew meat
2 yellow onions, sliced
1 t salt
1/2 t pepper
1/4 c packed brown sugar
24 oz beer - I use budweiser
1 can diced tomatoes
4 T roasted garlic
3 russet potatoes, peeled and cut in 1 1/2" pieces
2 carrots, cut in 2" pieces
3 stalks celery, cut in 2" pieces
1 sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1 1/2" pieces
1/4 c flour
salt and pepper to taste


Place meat in slow cooker set to high, spread onions over top

Add beer, diced tomatoes, salt, pepper and brown sugar

Add vegetables and mix flour with small amount of water then add to mixture

Once liquid comes to a boil, set to low and cover

Cook for 4-6 hours or until meat is tender

Add salt and pepper to taste
