Ingredients You'll Need
1/4 Stick of Butter (2 oz.)
1 tsp Olive oil
1 Large Red Onion
3 Bosc Pears
1/2 cup Dry White Wine
1/2 cup Swiss Cheese
2 TB Bread Crumbs
Place a tablespoon of butter and olive oil in a medium large saute pan. Quarter the red onion and cut each quarter into 4 pieces. Brown the onion over medium to medium high heat. This takes about 10 minutes. Quarter the Bosc Pears and quarter again similar to red onion. Set Aside. Once the onions are lightly brown add the Bosc pears to the pan and saute for 1 minute. Add the 1/2 cup of white wine and simmer slowly for 15 minutes. Drain. Preheat oven to 400. Place the pears and onions in a gratin dish or 8x8 cooking dish. Mix the cheese and breadcrumbs together and sprinkle over the pears and onions. Using the rest of the butter, place tabs of butter randomly across the top of the cheese and breadcrumbs. Put in the oven for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
