Why I Love This Recipe
My husband found this recipe long before he found me. Great lower carb alternative to pizza and very tasty.
We almost always double the recipe and eat on it a few times. Great in a bread bowl. The original recipe called for 1/4 C Italian seasoning, but we thought it was too much and cut it down to the 1/8 C as listed in the ingredients.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 1/4 C sliced mushrooms
1/2 C chopped onions
1 t vegetable oil
2 C water
1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce
1 C chopped pepperoni
1 C chopped fresh tomatoes
1/2 C cooked Italian sausage
1/8 C Italian seasoning
1/4 C grated Parmesan cheese
Shredded mozzarella (to garnish)
Saute mushrooms and onions in oil 2-3 minutes until tender
Add water, sauce, pepperoni, tomatoes, sausage and seasonings
Bring to boil over medium heat
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes
Before serving stir in Parmesan cheese
Garnish with mozzarella
