Why I Love This Recipe

Posca, a mixture of vinegar and water, was a staple drink for Roman soldiers. The addition of lemon juice and honey to create this lemonade variant was a luxury often reserved for higher-ranking officials. It was believed to purify water and prevent waterborne diseases during military campaigns.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tbsp honey
4 cups water
Pinch of crushed mint leaves

Directions

Combine lemon juice, red wine vinegar, honey, water, and crushed mint leaves in a leather flask.

Shake vigorously before drinking.

Best enjoyed after conquering Gaul!
