Why I Love This Recipe

Instead of the onion and the rest of the ingredients down to salt, I just used a sloppy joe mix packet, tomato paste and water (as per the directions on the packet). The casserole is good and quite filling.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 2lb bag Tater Tots
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 8oz can tomato sauce
1/2 c ketchup
1/4 c water
3 T brown sugar
1 T worcestershire
1 t salt
2 c shredded cheddar cheese

Layer tater tots in a 13x9 baking pan.

Bake at 425° for 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, brown ground beef with onions and garlic.

Add tomato sauce, ketchup, water, brown sugar, worchestershire and salt.

Mix thoroughly.

When tater tots are out of oven, spread sloppy joe mixture over top.

Then top with cheese.

Lower oven heat to 350° and bake an additional 15 minutes until hot and bubbly.

Questions, Comments & Reviews

This recipe is very, very, good. I did add a larger can of tomato sauce, some liquid smoke, and layer the meat and cheese mixture over the tator tots. You can add most anything you like to this dish and it would still be a wonderful dinner. Being from Texas, I also added some hot peppers and salsa. Thanks....
