SOS Chipped Beef on Toast

Why I Love This Recipe
If you are a veteran or active military regardless of what branch of the military you served or are serving in, at one point or other you will have eaten SOS. I was just going through my American Legion magazines before I pack them up to give to our church, since the 6th graders of West Valley Christian School are collecting magazines for a nearby nursing home and lo and behold I found the following recipe which I cut in half for you folks, and instead of lard use butter. Warning those on a low cholestrol and low sodium diet should refrain from eating it.
Ingredients You'll Need
15 pounds chipped beef
1 pound butter
1¼ pounds flour
2 12 ounce cans evaporated milk
1 bunch parsley, chopped
¼ ounce black pepper
6 quarts beef stock
Directions
In a large pot brown the flour in the melted butter.
In another pot dissolve the milk in the beef stock and add that to the flour. Stir this together slowely to prevent lumping and then add the chipped beef. Cook for a few minutes until hot, add the parsley, and serve over toast.
