Why I Love This Recipe

Now, I am not usually a fan of a cheese ball. I had actually never made a cheese ball myself until I inherited the classic, red Better Homes and Gardens cookbook from my grandmother. I made one from that book for nostalgic purposes alone. Reading Amy Sedaris's book "I Like You" has helped me gain at least an appreciation for cheese balls, however. I found this recipe in a dusty old entertainment guide from the early 80's. It includes such classics as the Smoky Cheese Log, and this wacky number. It also includes some rather interesting ingredients and instructions, like glazed crackers? Let me know if you try it, I'm not sure if I have the guts!

Ingredients You'll Need

1 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/4 cup sake
3/4 cup coarsley crushed glazed sesame crackers
2 Tbls. snipped parsley

Directions

In a small mixer bowl, combine cheese by beating with an electric mixer until almost smooth

Gradually beat in sake

Cover and chill one hour

Combine parsley and crackers

Shape cheese into a ball and roll in cracker mixture

Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving
