Sausage jalapeño cornbread dressing

Why I Love This Recipe

I found this recipe in a book. Sounded good. I tried, and loved it. I now make it every year. It's spicy without being hot!


Ingredients You'll Need

3/4 cup butter divided
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced
1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage ( no casing)
1 package cornbread stuffing mix
3 cups dry bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 cups warm chicken broth ( can add more if needed)
1 egg beaten


Directions

Preheat oven 350 degrees


Grease pan ( usually 9x9 )


In a heavy skillet, melt 8 tbs butter over low heat. Sauté onion and peppers untill soft. Place sausage in skillet, crumble and cook over med high heat untill evenly brown. Drain & transfer into a large bowl.


Combine sausage mixture, with stuffing mix, bread crumbs, warm chicken stalk, & egg.


Add salt , pepper, & mix well. Place dressing in greased pan. Dot with remaing butter.


Bake for about 45 mins. untill slightly brown.
