Simple Potatoes Au Gratin

Why I Love This Recipe

I'd read recipes for this dish and it sounded complicated, so I thought it through and came up with this simplified version.


Ingredients You'll Need

4-5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup melted butter
1 1/2 cups sharp white cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 cup dry parsley
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup 1/2 and 1/2


Directions

Season sliced potatoes with salt and pepper.


Grease bottom and sides of a 2 quart casserole with butter.


Alternately layer potatoes, 1/2 cup cheese, parsley, and onion, ending with a layer of potatoes.


Pour 1/2 and 1/2 over everything.


Sprinkle with remaining cheese, then dot with remaining butter.


Bake at 375 degrees for one hour or until potatoes feel cooked when tested with a fork.


Pairs Well With

This is a great side dish for steak or pork tenderloin.
