Siu Mei (pronounced Shoo My)

Why I Love This Recipe
These are my grandmother's version of a very traditional dim sum dish. She can no longer cook for us (she just turned 97!), so this is my americanized version. She still says that the way to really prepare the meat is with 2 cleavers, and not a food processor, or buying it ground
Ingredients You'll Need
2 packages of round won ton skins
1 ½ lb ground pork
1 ½ lb ground shrimp
½ c chinese straw mushroom, minced
1 t salt
2T brown sugar
3T soy sauce
¼ c corn starch
2T grated ginger
1T sesame oil
Directions
Mix all ingredients together very well,
Place 1 t mixture into the middle of the won ton skin and gather up sides, letting skin pleat naturally
Squeeze middle while tapping the bottom on flat surface so it will stand upright.
Place in bamboo steamer or on round plate on parchment paper
Steam for 10 minutes
