Spotted Dick

Why I Love This Recipe
Got ya to look didn't I? This is another of my English Mom's recipes. This is a real recipe just ask our English, Australian, and Canadian friends.
Ingredients You'll Need
5 oz self rising flour
1/2 tsp salt
5 oz fresh breadcrumbs
5 oz shredded suet
3 oz caster sugar
8 oz currants
1/4 pint milk
Directions
Mix together the flour, salt, breadcrumbs, suet, sugar, and currants in a large bowl..
Make a well in the centre.
Gradually add enough milk to make a soft but not sticky dough, using a knife to mix the dry ingredients into the liquid.
Form the dough into a roll on a floured surface. Wrap in greased greaseproof paper with a pleat in the top to allow room for the dough to rise. Wrap the roll loosely in foil, allowing room for expansion, and seal the joins tightly to keep water out.
Place in a large pan of boiling water, cover and simmer for 2 hours.
Remove from the heat, unwrap carefully and roll the pudding off the paper on to a warmed serving plate.
Serve hot in slices with pouring custard.
