Why I Love This Recipe

Weight Watchers Points – 3 pts

This cake is my family's favorite dessert. I got the recipe from a girlfriend at work. The original recipe used orange diet soda, and an orange cake mix but I have experimented with different mixes and sodas.

Here are my favorite cake combinations:

Yellow cake mix – Diet Lemon-lime soda (Sprite)

Chocolate cake mix – Diet Pepsi or Coke

Devils Food cake mix – Diet Dr. Pepper

German Chocolate cake mix – Diet Pepsi or Coke

Pineapple cake mix – Diet Lemon-lime soda (Sprite)

Orange cake mix – Diet orange soda or lemon-lime soda(Sprite)

My favorite topping combinations:

Chocolate pudding – Peaches

Cheesecake pudding – Pineapple

Vanilla pudding – Mandarin oranges

You can also benefit from my failures. Here are a few hints for a great cake every time.

• Be sure you use a “Moist” cake mix. I really like the Pillsbury Moist Supreme Reduced Sugar cake mix. I have used the Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe, and several of the store brand mixes. They all seem to work fine.

• Don’t use Fresca for your diet soda.

• Be sure your batter has a good consistency. You may need to add a little more soda if you are measuring from a 2 liter bottle.

• I don’t put my topping on the cake until I am ready to serve.

• This cake is very moist. If you don’t plan to eat it all in a couple of days, you may want to freeze part of it.
