Why I Love This Recipe

This I remember doing at home as a kid. It is great fun for kids to help, and they get a great reward for helping with the work.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 c milk
1 c whipping cream
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
chocolate, nuts, or fruit if desired
rock salt
crushed ice

Directions

in a 1lb coffee can mix milk, whipping cream, sugar, vanilla, and desired other flavors. Place lid onto can, and place it within a #10 tin can(i believe a 5lb can). Pack the ice in the #10 can around the smaller can, pour at least 3/4 cup rock salt evenly over ice. Place lid onto # 10 can. Roll back and forth for 10 min. on a smooth hard surface. oven both cans and with a spatula mix ingredients, making sure to scrape sides. replace lid and drain ice water from larger can. Put smaller can back into larger can and pack with more ice and salt. Roll again for about 5 more minutes. Makes about 3 cups.
