Why I Love This Recipe
Did you know that bourbon is America's only native spirit, as declared by Congress in 1964? It's a fun and flavorful addition to these cupcakes!
Ingredients You'll Need
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup bourbon
For the Bourbon Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
2-3 tablespoons bourbon
1 teaspoon almond extract or maple syrup (substitute for vanilla extract)
Pinch of salt
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the almond extract or maple syrup.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk and bourbon.
Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
To make the Bourbon Frosting, beat the butter until creamy, then gradually add the confectioners' sugar, bourbon, almond extract or maple syrup, and salt until smooth and fluffy.
Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost them with the Bourbon Frosting.
Enjoy your Tipsy Cupcake Delight!
