Why I Love This Recipe

Ingredients You'll Need

2/3 cup sliced almonds, divided use
2 green onions (for about 2 tablespoons chopped)
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups already-shredded Swiss cheese
1/3 cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Assorted crackers, for serving, optional

The oven should be preheated to 350 degrees F.

Place the almonds in a shallow dish, and place the dish in the preheated oven.

Bake until the almonds are lightly toasted, about 5 minutes.

Remove the dish from the oven and set aside to cool. (This can be done a day ahead.)

Rinse the green onions and trim away the roots. Finely mince them, using all of the whites and enough tender green tops to make 2 tablespoons.

Place the pieces in a medium mixing bowl.

Add 1/3 cup of the almonds, the cream cheese, Swiss cheese, salad dressing, nutmeg and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well with a wooden spoon.

Spread the mixture into a 9-inch glass pie plate or other attractive glass or ceramic baking dish.

Bake, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring after 8 minutes.

Remove from the oven, and garnish with the remaining toasted almonds.

Serve with assorted crackers, if desired.

Makes about 2 1/3 cups
