1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 F
Lightly grease an 8 x 8 inch square baking pan
In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt
Set aside
Using an electric mixer with a medium size bowl on medium speed, beat together the sugar, egg, and vanilla until creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes
Add the dry ingredients
Mix thoroughly
Stir in the walnuts, reserving 2 teaspoons
Transfer the batter to the prepared pan
Using your hands, spread the batter evenly
Sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoonfuls of the walnuts
Bake for 25 minutes
The center will not be set but do not overbake
Cool to room temperature
Cover tightly with plastic wrap and allow to set overnight before cutting and serving
