Why I Love This Recipe

Using wild berries the kids picked fresh is a great way for the kid to feel important in the family. Just make sure you know the berry is OK to eat!

Ingredients You'll Need

Freshly picked berries (or store bought)
1 Loaf of bread
Maple syrup
Round cookie cutter
Campfire "hamburger" or a rounded press

Directions

Place the bread in the palm of your hand and add the berries and a little bit of the maple syrup (don't put too much or it will get soggy

Add small amount of sugar for sweetness.

Gently place an other slice of bread on top

Cut with cookie cutter so that the berries are enclosed and sealed.

Place in the hamburger press and apply just enough pressure to hold firmly (be careful not too squeeze)

Hold over campfire and rotate so bread gets toasted all around.

Place in dish and pour maple syrup or ice cream on them.

I like them rolled in sugar while there still hot.

Let them cool a little bit before digging in.
