Why I Love This Recipe
Yemarina Yewotet Dabo is a traditional Ethiopian celebration bread often served during holidays and special occasions, symbolizing sweetness and prosperity.
Ingredients You'll Need
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup water
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, vegetable oil, and yogurt.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well to form a smooth batter.
If using, fold in the raisins and chopped nuts.
Add water to the batter and mix until well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve the Yemarina Yewotet Dabo at room temperature.
