Why I Love This Recipe
I got the idea for this of a low carb site while on atkins. I decided to use swiss and cheddar at that time and less egg and I found I like it this way much better.
With the sauce it will have some carbs and sugar in it, so you might be lucky and find a LC sauce or you will have to buy a can of whole stewed tomatoes and season with some spices and make your own sauce. I used salsa a lot it was a fun twist on sauce and it has "topping" already in it.
You can use any or all of the following "toppings":
browned, seasoned and totally drained ground beef or turkey
Ingredients You'll Need
1 8-oz pkg cream cheese
2-4 large eggs (depending on how eggy you want it) i use 3
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/4 - 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
1 Tbl chives (optional)
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
2 cups mixed Italian cheeses of your choice or i've used chedar
1/4 tsp garlic powder
3/4 cup pizza / pasta sauce or salsa
10 slices kraft 2% swiss cheese
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Beat together cream cheese and eggs until smooth.
Add cream, parmesan cheese, and spices and mix again.
Spray9" or larger glass baking dish with oil or PAM. line the edges letting half the slice fold out of the pan and the bottom with swiss.
Sprinkle1 cup Italian cheeses into dish and pour egg mixture over it.
Fold backover the pieces of swiss that were hanging over side of pan, this creates a crust.
Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes.Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes.
Spread on pizza sauce; sprinkle on 1 cup mozzarella cheese or remaining 1 cup mixed italian cheese and pile high with your chosen toppings.
Return to oven and bake until bubbly and browning.
Allow to stand 10-15 minutes before cutting.
