24 hour layered salad

  • 2 heads romaine lettuce
  • 1 package frozen, defrosted peas
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 4 hard boiled eggs, chopped
  • 6 slices bacon crispy and broken into pieces
  • 2 cups mayo
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  1. This is best presented in a clear straight sided bowl
  2. Wash and dry lettuce, slicing and putting on bottom of bowl
  3. Place next layer of egg, spreading evenly
  4. Lay next layer of peas
  5. Sprinkle cheese over top of peas
  6. Put last layer of bacon over top
  7. Mix together mayo and sugar well, then "frost" over salad making sure that it is covered entirely.
  8. Cover with Saran Wrap and when you get to your destination, mix and serve!
There are probably a million versions of this salad out there, but I have tweaked his one to be my favorite and it is so easy to get it done the day before and not have to worry about cooking on the day of the potluck
