APPLESCOTCH PIE

INGREDIENTS
  • 6 to 8 apples
  • 1 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 tsp. vinegar
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • double pie crust recipe
DIRECTIONS
  1. Slice apples. Heat half sugar with water and vinegar.
  2. Add apples and simmer until tender. Remove apples from syrup.
  3. Mix remaining sugar and flour and salt. Add slowly to syrup
  4. and cook until thickened. Remove from stove and add butter and
  5. vanilla. Fill crust with apples and pour hot mixture over
  6. apples. Put on top crust. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes, then
  7. reduce heat to 375 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes.
